Directions from Glasgow
When travelling from Glasgow or the International Airport there are two main routes:
Longer route (less complex)
Leave Glasgow westbound on the M8 signposted for Greenock. Continue towards and through Greenock on the A78 towards Largs passing Wemyss Bay and Skelmorlie before arriving at the north end of Largs. The Largs Holiday Home can be reached by following the main road which runs adjacent to the promenade. Passing the ferry terminal and shops, turn right onto Crawford Street (by the rail station). Gogo Street is at the end of Crawford Street on the right. A lot of this route goes along the seafront, which you will find really beautiful
Shorter route (more complex)
Leave Glasgow westbound on the M8 signposted for Greenock. Take the A737 towards Irvine (just past Glasgow Airport) onto the dual carriageway. Pass by Johnstone, Kilbarchan and Howwood, then turn right onto the A760 at the small roundabout, heading into Lochwinnoch (you should pass The Hungry Monk). There is an RSPB Centre in Lochwinnoch. Continue on into Kilbirnie (passing a large Tesco) and then follow the signs for Largs. You will come down a steep and winding hill (take care!). At the bottom, turn right at the traffic lights and make your way into the town centre. Passing the shops and rail station, turn left onto Crawford Street. Gogo Street is at the end of Crawford Street on the right.

Glasgow International Airport
Glasgow International Airport is around 5 miles outside the centre of Glasgow and is Scotland’s busiest and largest airport. The airport is served by a number of domestic, European and worldwide airlines including BMI, BA, Emirates, Continental, easyJet and others. The Largs Holiday Home is approximately 50 minutes by road.
Onwards by Taxi
If you are taking a taxi, we recommend arranging a fixed fee for the journey before you set off. There is a busy taxi rank available in front of the airport. Cabs serving the airport are typically from Renfrewshire Council and are white in colour. You can of course pre-book a taxi with a private hire company local to Largs. This is often cheaper than an airport taxi but needs to be arranged by telephone. We recommend Brisbane Taxis who offer a quality service and fixed prices to and from the airport
Onwards by Train
The airport currently does not have a railway station but is reasonably served with a link service to Paisley Gilmour Street Station. This is the nearest rail station to the airport, one mile from the terminal and easily reached by taxi or bus (services 66 and 300). There are direct rail services from Paisley Gilmour Street to Largs (See By Train). When travelling to the airport from Largs, simply ask for a rail ticket to Glasgow Airport. The ticket will be valid on the train to Paisley Gilmour Street and the Arriva bus service from Paisley to the airport. Rail tickets can be purchased from the SPT Travel Centre on the ground floor of the airport terminal, next to domestic arrivals.
Glasgow Prestwick International Airport
Glasgow Prestwick is a smaller, regional airport on the Ayrshire coast served well by budget and regional carriers and is a hub for Ryanair.
Onwards by Car
Driving from Prestwick Airport, you head north on the A78 and follow signs for Greenock and Largs. You will pass the exits for Troon and Irvine as you go, and then you will pass through the ’3 Towns’ – Stevenston, Saltcoats and Ardrossan, before following the coast road through Seamill, West Kilbride and Fairlie to arrive in the south end of Largs where you will see the Marina and Pencil Monument.
Onwards by Train
Glasgow Prestwick has its own railway station. To get to the Largs Holiday Home, take the train to Kilwinning (15 minute journey) and change for Largs (30 minute journey). More details on getting here by train are available below.
By Train
The nearest railway station is Largs which is less than 200m from the flat. Largs is at the end of a mainline which begins at Glasgow Central station and travels via Paisley Gilmour Street station. Typically trains take 50 minutes from Glasgow and leave once per hour at all times of the year. Glasgow Central is one of the UK’s largest and busiest mainline stations and is served by trains from across the UK.
If you would like more details of Largs’ station facilities as well as train timetables, check out the National Rail website

As a popular tourist resort as well as busy community, Largs is well served with a number of bus and coach services from a number of operators. A key local operator is Harte Buses – which has a rapid (sometimes breakneck) service between Largs and Glasgow as well as other Ayrshire destinations!
The Traveline Scotland website has a comprehensive list of the services offered to and from Largs by bus and coach
